St. Denis Board of GovernorsInto Your Hands’  relationship with the Makondo community started in 1999 when the children’s education department at Christ the King (CTK) Catholic Church in Evergreen, Colorado, kicked-off a fundraising project for St. Denis Senior Secondary School in Uganda.  Maria Camp, the Director of Religious Education at the time, had spent five years in Uganda as a teenager from 1974-1979.  In 1999, the CTK children raised over $3,000 for St. Denis.  This money was used to finish the examination hall, making it possible for St. Denis to become the first nationally accredited secondary school in the Makondo area. Other improvements funded by Christ the King prior to the formation of Into Your Hands include the construction of a science lab and a library at St. Denis, installation of water collection tanks, and provision of teacher salaries, textbooks, desks, and school supplies.
