Simonne Gallaty. Secretary.  Simonne joined the board in 2011 with a strong sense of responsibility to contribute in whatever way possible. “In this country, we are blessed, at the very least, with basic human rights and needs, and oftentimes it is difficult to imagine anything less. To invest time and energy to ensure others are afforded these same liberties and opportunities, I believe, is my obligation.”  Simonne is a graduate of Boston College with post-graduate studies from Georgetown University.  She previously served as manager for the Journal of Environmental Health and was the director of communications for the Washington, DC office of the international A/E firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. She hails from Alabama and moved to Colorado in 1990 with her husband. Her experience in non-profit publications and corporate communications and administrative management, coupled with her passion for the Ugandan community and Africa as a whole, serve to continually motivate her to work hard for IYH-A’s mission. She loves to involve her 11-year daughter as well.

Lorene also served on the founding board of Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen. In 1996 she joined the board of the Evergreen Arts Council and later was asked to serve as its Executive Director where she was instrumental in the creation of the Center for the Arts Evergreen.
